1970年9月17日から19日、ニューヨークのグリニッチ・ヴィレッジにあったクラブ、The Bitter End East での3夜にわたる公演を収めたライヴ盤。Randy Newman（ランディ・ニューマン）にとって3枚目のアルバムにあたる。伴奏は一切なく、彼自身のピアノ弾き語りのみで全14曲が進む。

Newmanは1943年11月28日、ロサンゼルス生まれ。伯父にあたる Alfred Newman、Lionel Newman、Emil Newman はいずれも映画音楽の作曲家で、幼少期からその影響下に育った。UCLA在学中から出版社に楽曲を提供する職業作曲家として活動し、Judy Collins、Alan Price、Peggy Lee、Harry Nilsson、Three Dog Night らに曲が取り上げられている。とりわけ Three Dog Night による Mama Told Me Not To Come は1970年に全米1位を獲得した。

プロデュースは Lenny Waronker（レニー・ワロンカー）と Russ Titelman（ラス・タイトルマン）。編集とミックスダウンは Bob Kovach、リモート録音は FEDCO Audio Labs が担当した。本盤は日本盤で、発売はワーナー・ブラザーズ・パイオニア株式会社。解説は小倉エージによる。

Davy The Fat Boy: about a man who puts a fat boy on show for money. Newman sings from that man's side. No judgement. He just plays it through. Laughter rises, then you lose track of what you were laughing at. No hiding in a solo performance.

ABOUT
Newman's third album, recorded over three nights in September 1970, solo at the piano. Born 1943 in Los Angeles into a family of film composers, he worked first as a staff songwriter; Three Dog Night took Mama Told Me Not To Come to No.1 in 1970. Produced by Lenny Waronker and Russ Titelman.
